ConceptBoarding’s scope of work for the pizzeria included:
– Conceptual design
– Design development
– Project management, meetings with consultants and contractors
– Placing purchase orders for materials, furniture, textiles
The concept of the design was to bring the Neapolitan village of Marechiaro to Mykonos. In the Neapolitan songbook, there used to be a song called “Marechiaro” that was sung by three famous tenors: Pavarotti, Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo. We incorporated theme elements from the location of the village as well as from the tenors and the Mykonian l andscape. The bar front is telling a story that brings the song of Marechiaro to the windmills of Mykonos. The illustrations were done by the artist Giorgos Tserionis .
The main element of the pizzeria is the wood oven, which was build on site, by a Neapolitan craftsman builder.
